We lost power about 7:30 Monday evening...
We were enjoying
dessert in the living room...
as we listened to the
horrific wind outside...
Like a fast moving freight train
about to come crashing through
the walls of our small home...
Suddenly,
a loud "crackkkkkkk" outside...
and fireworks inside...
My husband quickly
turned off the main breaker to the house...
A tree had fallen down across the driveway...
And took the power and phone lines with it.

Today...
We praise God
for "power"ful blessings...
~that the tree completely missed the garage and house...
~ for my husband who had the boys move
all the vehicles away from the garage at dinnertime...
~that my husband's quick response to turn
off the power inside prevented a fire...
~that we were the only ones on our road
to lose power...
~that knowing there were countless
others without power,
and not expecting to see the power company
for several days at least...
Those tireless men were here within 20 hours...
~That my sister and her family
in New Jersey...
Right in the direct path of Sandy...
Escaped any major damage...
~That wonderful friends
around the country
held us up in their prayers...

| Thank you, Central Maine Power! |
Once again...
We have much to be thankful for...
And continue to pray
for all the others
crippled by this devastating storm...
"O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good:
because his mercy endureth for ever..."
Psalm 118:1

Good Morning Laura,
ReplyDeleteWhat a miracle that tree missed the garage.
God does hear our prayers.
Praying for you and your family as you begin the clean up process.
Claiming Isaiah 54:17 for your family.
"No weapon formed against you shall prosper."
Thank You Lord, you do hide us in the shadow of Your wings.
Blessings,
Virginia
Good Morning Virginia!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for holding us up in prayer and for your wonderful words of encouragement. I'm going to post your scripture verse on our refrigerator this morning...a wonderful verse to hold with us throughout this day!
God bless, dear friend,
Laura
Laura, I am so thankful that you and family are safe. So proud your sister and her family survived as well too. God is awsome.
ReplyDeleteGod is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Psalms 46:1..I love this verse, just knowing God is there, all the time, right when we need Him ..is such a comfort. Hugs my friend.
PS So proud you got electricty back so soon.. Wonderful power company.
Dear Judy,
DeleteWe, too, are so thankful for the heroic efforts of the power company. One of the three gentlemen who came to our house told me that they work 18 hours on/18 hours off shifts until power is restored.
We are still waiting for the tree company to come and cut the tree so that the phone company can come and reattach the phone line. After that, an electrician needs to come and fix the weatherhead which attaches to the outside of our home.
Hope you are all well this Thursday morning!
Love,
Laura
Good Morning Trish!
