This weekend was our final lawn cutting of the year...
In our home...
I am the official "weed whacker"...
While my husband "raked" the driveway...
cut the grass...
and mulched the leaves for the final time...
I whacked the weeds...
In my own yard...
I am always so sure of which plants
are the weeds...
So...whenever I do this...I find that it is
the perfect time to reflect on the parable
of the weeds found in the gospel of Matthew 13: 24-30...
In this parable, we learn that
Jesus is the sower,
the field is the world,
the good seed are the children of the kingdom
and the weeds the children of the evil one.
The harvest is judgment day
and the reapers are the angels...
It reminds me to be careful whom I label as either wheat or weed...
especially because I know so well that the line between the two..
that is...the line between good and evil,
runs crookedly through every human heart....even mine...
It is not my job to "whack the weeds"...
I simply need to look to His Word...
And to trust that the Lord knows what He is doing...
And will work all things out for good in the end.
After we took care of the outside...
It was time to move inside...
And "weed whack" the chimney...
A friend of my husband's told him about
this nifty gadget for cleaning chimneys...
It's like a "weed whacker" that you put
on the end of your electric drill...
You attach bendable rods and feed them
up the chimney and "whack" all the bad stuff off!

my technical description...smile)

It does such a nice job!
And the best part?
It keeps all my men off the roof!

So...for now...
the "whacking" is finished...
Although it looks as though
someone already took a "whack"
at my banana and blueberry bread!
"Let both grow together until the harvest:
and in the time of harvest I
will say to the reapers,
Gather ye together first the tares,
nd bind
them in bundles to burn them:
but gather the wheat into my barn..."
Matthew 13:30
What a nifty too, to clean your chimney..[A lot safer too]. the bread looks yummy.

I enjoyed your thoughts about weed whacking, and how it is not "our" job... how easy it is to forget that sometimes, and your gentle reminder is so true. Glad that you got so much accomplished this weekend, must feel great! Getting ready for winter is always lots of work, and glad you found a tool to make the chimney sweeping easier and safer! ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by for a visit! We just love this nifty little gadget...I used to get nervous every time my men had to go up on the roof... we burn a lot of wood and my husband is very conscientious about keeping the chimney clean.
