We spent most of Saturday
preparing for the "big storm"
predicted for the weekend...
Bringing in wood for the stove...
Getting gas for the trucks and snowblower...
Putting a plastic covering over the outside pen
of the chicken coop so that my "ladies"
could still enjoy the outdoors on sunny days!
This has been a month of
"getting prepared"...
With my 90+ year old parents
still living on their own...
We began to take some steps to
make life easier for them...
We moved their bedroom downstairs
to avoid all the climbing each day...
We insulated all the pipes in the cellar
to hopefully prevent any freezing this winter...

| By 10 AM we had over a foot! |
We did a major "clean-up"...
Getting rid of things that they weren't using
in order to give them more room...
But perhaps the biggest step in
"preparedness"...
Was turning the rooms above the garage
into a small apartment
for one of my sons...

He will help them with fuel costs and such
and, more importantly,
he will be there at night to watch over them.

This is how our Lord is with us...
Making changes in our lives...
Sheltering us...
Watching over us...
With temps in the negative range...
and the sun shining brightly...
We are preparing today for another storm
this evening...
 |
| Last week...just a dusting. Another 6-10 inches expected tonight... |
Yet, the Lord gently reminds me...
That although these physical needs are important...
I must also be prepared to share
the hope that is within me...
For the snow may melt tomorrow...
But my "hope" is for all eternity.
"But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy,
always being prepared
to make a defense
to anyone who asks you for a reason
for the hope that
is in you;
yet do it with gentleness and respect..."
I Peter 3:15
What a touching and wonderful Post Laura.. Your weather seems so cold and hard.. But yet, you show God's loving touch through it.. You are an amazing lady.. thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI am so thankful that your son, will move into the basement apt. with grandparents.. This will be so wonderful to be there, if they need him..God does supply.

We've been quite busy changing around lots of things to make life a bit easier for my parents. My sons have been a tremendous answer to prayers...so helpful...we feel so blessed!
DeleteWeather is always a factor we have to be prepared for. Our daughter will be home from Colorado on Sunday and we are expecting a major weather situation then. It amazes me how you can take any situation and find God in it, Laura. You are truly blessed. Praying for safety and comfort in our homes this Christmas.
