A fantastic summer afternoon...
Full of fun, food, and fellowship with family from Pennsylvania.

Of course, no afternoon would be complete with a rousing game of lawn croquet!

Amid laughter, "amended" and newly invented "on the spot" rules, lost balls, stubbed toes, and non-competetive spirits...we "spectators" heard the following comment more than once...

"Keep your eye on the ball!"
As I sat knitting in my lawn chair...laughing with the others...snapping photos...watching the seagulls swoop down for their "catch" on the shore...I thought about that phrase...keep your eye on the ball.
And it's meaning... to remain alert and attentive.
And a thought crossed my mind...am I remaining alert and attentive?
Attentive to the things of this world that "really matter?"
Alert to His coming...at any moment?
"But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch."
Mark 13:32-37
Hi Laura ~ Thank you for sharing our need to pay attention and to be alert...so much to ponder! Sweet blessings!
ReplyDeleteEveryone looks as if they had a wonderful time :) Yes, keep looking up...be watchful and aware. There is so much truth there. But, we are so used to always tending to everything else instead of what is really important!
ReplyDeleteRejoice in your blessings,
